Working with Administrators

Your institution should be prepared to provide administrators with the following:

  • Standards based programming
  • Close fit with school’s curricula
  • Multidisciplinary approaches
  • Links to math and literacy
  • Cost effective programs
  • Flexibility of scheduling
  • Quality materials that teachers can take back to their classroom
  • Highly trained instructors
  • Empirical data / outcome based evaluations
  • Programs that will reflect well on the school
  • Programs that will make teachers and parents enthusiastic
  • Well-organized field study visits
  • Clear definition of objectives and outcomes
  • Ability to involve parents in the learning experience

Approaching administrators:

  • Build personal relationships with them
  • Invite them and their staffs to your institution to highlight available learning opportunities ; give them an insider view of your institution
  • Hold principal meetings at your institution
  • Become involved in curriculum committees and science instruction panels at your local schools or districts
  • Follow-up and remain determined; sometimes a multiple approach is required
